Our Law Internship is an invaluable preparation for your career in legal items and is designed for those law undergraduate or recent graduate students who wish to work in a competitive legal environment and profession.

Our International Law Internship enhances and reinforce knowledge and skills acquired in law school; provides the student intern with the ability to apply such knowledge and skills in a professional work environment and with the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills relevant to the practice of law and/or the development and implementation of policy in an international setting and/or to the practice of international law broadly construed. Our legal or law internship is designed primarily for the benefit of the student intern, rather than the placement site.

ELEP offers a wide variety of suitable and incredible legal placements abroad in Ecuador, placements such as prestigious NGOs in the legal department, attorney’s office, commercial office, etc. in areas of Civil, Tributary Law, Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Real Estate Law, Labor Law, Mining and Oil Law, Financial, Banking and Insurance Law, Intellectual Property, Merger and Acquisitions, Foreign Investment and Transfer of Technology. Our partners and host placements welcome to students or professionals where they will be involved in the day-to-day legal practices.

Our placements are specifically tailored to utilize the skills and experience that you have already acquired or are thing in gaining. They will give you all-round exposure to life in a South America law practice, the opportunity to observe, learn and gain excellent experience.

Internship Role

As an intern, you'll work side-by-side with the regular staff and be involved in the daily legal duties of the attorney’s offices or NGOs. Depending on their specialty, enthusiasm and aptitude to learn new things, interns will participate in: preparing, checking and revising legal documents, to accompany to their supervisor and clients to different public offices, interviewing clients, carry out legal research, prepare correspondence, write legal memoranda and articles, draft documents etc. Our attorney/lawyer partners in Ecuador will be eager for you to be involved.

Skills/Qualifications

Although our opportunity is open to college students, undergraduate, recent graduate students and young professionals. No previous experience is mandatory although it could be very helpful. Nevertheless, an intermediate level of Spanish is required.

Internship Location

Our professional marketing internship is located in Quito, Ambato, Cuenca and Latacunga.

Accommodation and Meals

During the stay in the program, interns will live with a carefully screened host family which will provide with a single, clean, modest, comfortable and safe room as well as local meals three times a day. No lunch on Sundays.

Dates, Duration and Application Deadline

This internship opportunity runs all year-round for 9-24 weeks in length and start every Monday so interns should arrive 1 or 2 days early. Interns choose their own start dates. Applications are accepted up to 4 weeks prior to departure or start date.

Pick-up/Meeting

Interns will be met outside the airport terminal by an ELEP representative holding a placard with your name on it. Please provide us your flight information up to 2 weeks prior departing from your home-country so that a punctual pick-up/meeting can be arranged.

Internship Program Cost: 1150 for 9 weeks. Every extra week is $ 105
